| Summary of Reviews: |
| When you come across a
product that has received 4 or 5 stars from 97% of reviewers, you can feel pretty
confident that this product not only does what it advertises, but it
does it well. Even the 4 star reviews pretty much rave about the Rockwell Jaw Horse.
However, what are the main complaints? The main complaint is the weight (40+ pounds). As one reviewer mentions, it's heavy for him since he's older but goes on to say that this should not affect younger people. Another reviewer mentioned that the jaw horse manual has tiny print, but it ended up not being a big deal as the jawhorse is pretty simple to set up and use. Other points to consider from the reviews:
THE MANUFACTURER RESPONDS One reviewer went on in depth about his concerns about some of the parts being made of plastic. Rockwell Tools actually read the review and took the time to reply. Here is their response, posted on Amazon: "A word from the
designers. Barry of Hartsburg, Missouri is concerned by some plastic parts, I'd like to offer some reassurance. The Jawhorse is constructed from a variety of materials, steel, cast aluminum, urethane rubber and, yes, plastic. Each material has it's advantages and disadvantages, the choice is primarily down to suitability rather than cost. The plastic parts are
mostly in fact glass filled polyamide (nylon). This material offers
excellent toughness, durability and a degree of self lubrication. This is
why it's great for parts which have to slide freely without squeaks and
scrapes, like the lock switch and rear leg blocks. It's also gives us much
more freedom in the part shape than say a steel pressing (no sharp edges
either). Best of all glass filled nylon is exceptionally strong. Overall conclusion: We are confident in giving the Rockwell Jawhorse our highest recommendation. |
